Biking with Ride Like A Girl in Portland: Banks-Vernonia & Timber!
August 16 @ 8:30 am - 3:00 pm
The Bend Bellas hosted the Ride Like A Girl(RLAG) club from Portland in June for 2 days of cycling. Now the RLAG club is returning the favor for 2 days of cycling in Portland, showcasing their favorite routes and highlights of PDX! They are offering 4 rides on 8/16 and 3 rides on 8/17. On both days, the rides will vary in pace and distance. Something for everyone! Specific distances/routes are shown below.
The Banks to Vernonia Trail is widely loved for it’s 20 mile forested, paved and lovely terrain. The 72 mile group will start before Banks at North Plains for a rural, agricultural ramble through flat and rollling hills. In Banks, they will jump onto the BV trail and head to Vernonia. Flat-to-light ascent til mile 11 where we’ll enjoy a watermelon rest stop and then roll mostly down into Vernonia. We’ll have a quick lunch at a Mediterranean cafe before backtracking 2 miles where the 72 milers will turn off onto Timber road and the 42 milers will return on the trail back to Banks. The Timber folks will enjoy this lovely detour where there will be a couple of good climbs/descents on lower traffic roads. They will then jump onto Hwy 6 (good shoulder) for about 5 miles and “pace line” to “Kansas City” for a lovely, rolling hills and flat finish back to North Plains. This a beutiful and challenging route.
Join us for a great ride, awesome terrain and the bonus of meeting new friends in Portland!
