Biking with Ride Like A Girl in Portland: “Best of Portland”
August 17 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
The Bend Bellas hosted the Ride Like A Girl(RLAG) club from Portland in June for 2 days of cycling. Now the RLAG club is returning the favor for 2 days of cycling in Portland, showcasing their favorite routes and highlights of PDX! They are offering 4 rides on 8/16 and 3 rides on 8/17. On both days, the rides will vary in pace and distance. Something for everyone! Specific distances/routes are shown below.
Join us for a great ride, awesome views and the bonus of meeting new friends in Portland!
“The Best of Portland” route will have three options: the shortest being slow and easy for all our beginner riders. The moderate route is mostly urban, spans 10 miles of bike path. Terrain is flat with less than 1K ft of climbing. The 34 mile ride will include a couple easier climbs in the beginning and give us river views and a lovely run through Terwilliger Curves, OHSU, and Portland State University. We will drop down into the Waterfront for a few bike path miles and then move into urban N/NE Portland. Will bike north to the Columbia Slough, Portland Raceway and Hayden Meadows Golf Course. Turn back, we’ll venture over to Cathedral Park (under the beloved and beautiful St.John’s Bridge) and return for expansive views along Willamette Blvd. Urban roads again with detour down Mississippi Avenue (foodies!). The final segment will take us along the Eastbank Esplanade, across the newest vehicle-free Tilikum Bridge and back to Sellwood.
THREE ride options will start from Sellwood-Riverfront Park:
28-mile flat option: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/28212962 – moderate pace – Leaders: Emily and Shelley
34-mile (1500 ft) with hills https://ridewithgps.com/routes/28212964 – fast pace, 16+ mph – Leaders: Suzie and Carolyn
10 mile option – would be nice- (easy pace) – Leader: JoAnn
BRING food, water, flat tire repair kit, cell phone, identification, money and/or credit card, medical information, emergency contact. There will be a waiver to sign before the ride.
