Kayak/SUP outing to Waldo Lake: SAVE THE DATE
August 30 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Organizer: Laury Riley 541-408-4338 or email@example.com
I am announcing this well in advance so that you can plan. It is a 2 hour drive to Waldo Lake, so it will take the entire day. Or you can book a campsite in the area. I have rented a room for Wed and Thurs nights at Odell Lake Resort nearby, and they still have cabins and lodge rooms available if you act quickly. Call 541-433-2540 or go online to www.odelllakeresort.com. (Shelter Cove Resort also has campsites but all cabins are booked except one.)
Waldo Lake is very large and one of the most pristine lakes in Oregon. No motor boats are allowed, and the water is incredibly pure and clear. It is well worth the drive to experience this scenic lake with multiple coves to explore. We will launch at the Shadow Bay boat ramp and paddle at the south end of the lake for a few hours. This is an excellent lake for an SUP as the view down into the lake is very clear.
For those doing a day trip and not staying overnight, you will depart from Bend at 8am and return at approx. 5pm. We will paddle from about 11am til 2pm. Bring a lunch. MORE DETAILS WILL BE ANNOUNCED CLOSER TO THE DATE.
To get to Waldo Lake, drive south on Hwy 97 to Crescent, then turn right onto Hwy 61, then onto Hwy 58, past Willamette Pass. We will pass Crescent Lake and Odell Lake on the way (which I plan to paddle also while I am in the area). Carpooling would be a good idea. There is also mountain biking around Waldo Lake, for experienced riders only.
This outing is for Bella members only.
