Event: Intermediate MTN Bike Ride – Suttle Lake

Intermediate MTN Bike Ride – Suttle Lake

When: Wednesday May 24th

Where: Meet at the parking lot behind Carino’s Italian 63455 N. Hwy 97 (map) and carpool to the trailhead. We will leave Carino’s parking lot PROMPTLY AT 9:30.

*** If you wish to meet at the trailhead, it is located at the intersection of Hwy 20 and George McAllister Road, across from the turnoff to Camp Sherman. (map) Plan to be at the trailhead READY TO ROLL at 10:30.

Details of Ride: This is a Bella favorite! The trail starts with a slightly declining doubletrack, passing through the open pine forests the area is so known for. The trail continues this way for a couple of miles before switching to a fun singletrack for the remainder of the outbound portion of the ride. A great feature of this trail is that there are loads of zippy ups and downs.

The trail starts a gradual incline that it keeps fairly constant for at least a couple of miles, with some nice drops in between, before crossing a couple of wooden bridges over a couple of small creeks, then passing over a paved road. At this road, the trail continues to the Suttle Lake Lodge. There is no service at the Suttle Lake Lodge, so bring snacks for the ride. We will briefly stop at the Lodge area before continuing on the trail back to the trailhead.

You can see a description of the ride here: This ride is approximately 13 miles with 700 feet of elevation gain/loss.

This ride is for intermediate riders. The rider should be comfortable with moderately technical terrain and uphill climbs. ALL of our rides are ‘no-drop’ rides and the Bellas are committed to helping one another improve our riding skills. In consideration of other riders, however, we do ask that you choose an ability level that is close to your skills. If you are building a particular skill, please let the ride leader know.

Driving time each way is approximately 1 hour, with riding time and stopping about 2 hours.

***Lunch after in Sisters for those interested.
